A: Every network has a unique IP address. This IP address helps us determine who is accessing your myStratus account. By allowing you to choose which IP addresses can access your database through myStratus Desktop, you can make sure that only authorized people/networks can access your data. Whether that's a studio computer or an employee working from home, it's important for you to be able to protect your data.
A: With Stratus, you can restrict their IP address so they can no longer access your database.
A: The simple answer is that your IP address keeps changing. Most Internet service providers automatically assign your IP address and they may change it without warning. You may be working fine one day and get a message the following day that your IP address has not been "authorized," requiring you to authorize a new one. To avoid this, we suggest checking with your ISP and requesting a "Static IP Address" that will never change. There may be an additional cost, but it shouldn't be much. Also, this may be a good time to see what bandwidth speeds you're currently paying for. You may be able to upgrade for a few dollars more each month, giving you a faster experience in general and when using myStratus Desktop.
